3D single object tracking (SOT) in point clouds is still a challenging problem due to appearance variation, distractors, and high sparsity of point clouds. Notably, in autonomous driving scenarios, the target object typically maintains spatial adjacency across consecutive frames, predominantly moving horizontally. This spatial continuity offers valuable prior knowledge for target localization. However, existing trackers, which often employ point-wise representations, struggle to efficiently utilize this knowledge owing to the irregular format of such representations. Consequently, they require elaborate designs and solving multiple subtasks to establish spatial correspondence. In this paper, we introduce BEVTrack, a simple yet strong baseline framework for 3D SOT. After converting consecutive point clouds into the common Bird's-Eye-View representation, BEVTrack inherently encodes spatial proximity and adeptly captures motion cues for tracking via a simple element-wise operation and convolutional layers. Additionally, to better deal with objects having diverse sizes and moving patterns, BEVTrack directly learns the underlying motion distribution rather than making a fixed Laplacian or Gaussian assumption as in previous works. Without bells and whistles, BEVTrack achieves state-of-the-art performance on KITTI and NuScenes datasets while maintaining a high inference speed of 122 FPS. Implicit models such as Deep Equilibrium Models (DEQs) have garnered significant attention in the community for their ability to train infinite layer models with elegant solution-finding procedures and constant memory footprint. However, despite several attempts, these methods are heavily constrained by model inefficiency and optimization instability. Furthermore, fair benchmarking across relevant methods for vision tasks is missing. In this work, we revisit the line of implicit models and trace them back to the original weight-tied models. Surprisingly, we observe that weight-tied models are more effective, stable, as well as efficient on vision tasks, compared to the DEQ variants. Through the lens of these simple-yet-clean weight-tied models, we further study the fundamental limits in the model capacity of such models and propose the use of distinct sparse masks to improve the model capacity. Finally, for practitioners, we offer design guidelines regarding the depth, width, and sparsity selection for weight-tied models, and demonstrate the generalizability of our insights to other learning paradigms.

We propose a novel end-to-end pipeline for online long-range vectorized high-definition (HD) map construction using on-board camera sensors. The vectorized representation of HD maps, employing polylines and polygons to represent map elements, is widely used by downstream tasks. However, previous schemes designed with reference to dynamic object detection overlook the structural constraints within linear map elements, resulting in performance degradation in long-range scenarios. In this paper, we exploit the properties of map elements to improve the performance of map construction. We extract more accurate bird's eye view (BEV) features guided by their linear structure, and then propose a hierarchical sparse map representation to further leverage the scalability of vectorized map elements and design a progressive decoding mechanism and a supervision strategy based on this representation. Our approach, ScalableMap, demonstrates superior performance on the nuScenes dataset, especially in long-range scenarios, surpassing previous state-of-the-art model by 6.5 mAP while achieving 18.3 FPS. Multi-view aggregation promises to overcome the occlusion and missed detection challenge in multi-object detection and tracking. Recent approaches in multi-view detection and 3D object detection made a huge performance leap by projecting all views to the ground plane and performing the detection in the Bird's Eye View (BEV). In this paper, we investigate if tracking in the BEV can also bring the next performance breakthrough in Multi-Target Multi-Camera (MTMC) tracking. Most current approaches in multi-view tracking perform the detection and tracking task in each view and use graph-based approaches to perform the association of the pedestrian across each view. This spatial association is already solved by detecting each pedestrian once in the BEV, leaving only the problem of temporal association. For the temporal association, we show how to learn strong Re-Identification (re-ID) features for each detection. The results show that early-fusion in the BEV achieves high accuracy for both detection and tracking. EarlyBird outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and improves the current state-of-the-art on Wildtrack by +4.6 MOTA and +5.6 IDF1.

We address the challenge of training a large supernet for the object detection task, using a relatively small amount of training data. Specifically, we propose an efficient supernet-based neural architecture search (NAS) method that uses search space pruning. The search space defined by the supernet is pruned by removing candidate models that are predicted to perform poorly. To effectively remove the candidates over a wide range of resource constraints, we particularly design a performance predictor for supernet, called path filter, which is conditioned by resource constraints and can accurately predict the relative performance of the models that satisfy similar resource constraints. Hence, supernet training is more focused on the best-performing candidates. Our path filter handles prediction for paths with different resource budgets. Compared to once-for-all, our proposed method reduces the computational cost of the optimal network architecture by 30% and 63%, while yielding better accuracy-floating point operations Pareto front (0.85 and 0.45 points of improvement on average precision for Pascal VOC and COCO, respectively).

Point cloud registration plays a crucial role in various computer vision tasks, and usually demands the resolution of partial overlap registration in practice. Most existing methods perform a serial calculation of rotation and translation, while jointly predicting overlap during registration, this coupling tends to degenerate the registration performance. In this paper, we propose an effective registration method with dual branches decoupling for partial-to-partial registration, dubbed as DBDNet. Specifically, we introduce a dual branches structure to eliminate mutual interference error between rotation and translation by separately creating two individual correspondence matrices. For partial-to-partial registration, we consider overlap prediction as a preordering task before the registration procedure. Accordingly, we present an overlap predictor that benefits from explicit feature interaction, which is achieved by the powerful attention mechanism to accurately predict pointwise masks. Furthermore, we design a multi-resolution feature extraction network to capture both local and global patterns thus enhancing both overlap prediction and registration module. Experimental results on both synthetic and real datasets validate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Ensuring alignment, which refers to making models behave in accordance with human intentions [1,2], has become a critical task before deploying large language models (LLMs) in real-world applications. For instance, OpenAI devoted six months to iteratively aligning GPT-4 before its release [3]. However, a major challenge faced by practitioners is the lack of clear guidance on evaluating whether LLM outputs align with social norms, values, and regulations. This obstacle hinders systematic iteration and deployment of LLMs. To address this issue, this paper presents a comprehensive survey of key dimensions that are crucial to consider when assessing LLM trustworthiness. The survey covers seven major categories of LLM trustworthiness: reliability, safety, fairness, resistance to misuse, explainability and reasoning, adherence to social norms, and robustness. Each major category is further divided into several sub-categories, resulting in a total of 29 sub-categories. Additionally, a subset of 8 sub-categories is selected for further investigation, where corresponding measurement studies are designed and conducted on several widely-used LLMs. The measurement results indicate that, in general, more aligned models tend to perform better in terms of overall trustworthiness. However, the effectiveness of alignment varies across the different trustworthiness categories considered. This highlights the importance of conducting more fine-grained analyses, testing, and making continuous improvements on LLM alignment. By shedding light on these key dimensions of LLM trustworthiness, this paper aims to provide valuable insights and guidance to practitioners in the field. Understanding and addressing these concerns will be crucial in achieving reliable and ethically sound deployment of LLMs in various applications.

The incredible development of federated learning (FL) has benefited various tasks in the domains of computer vision and natural language processing, and the existing frameworks such as TFF and FATE has made the deployment easy in real-world applications. However, federated graph learning (FGL), even though graph data are prevalent, has not been well supported due to its unique characteristics and requirements. The lack of FGL-related framework increases the efforts for accomplishing reproducible research and deploying in real-world applications. Motivated by such strong demand, in this paper, we first discuss the challenges in creating an easy-to-use FGL package and accordingly present our implemented package FederatedScope-GNN (FS-G), which provides (1) a unified view for modularizing and expressing FGL algorithms; (2) comprehensive DataZoo and ModelZoo for out-of-the-box FGL capability; (3) an efficient model auto-tuning component; and (4) off-the-shelf privacy attack and defense abilities. We validate the effectiveness of FS-G by conducting extensive experiments, which simultaneously gains many valuable insights about FGL for the community. Moreover, we employ FS-G to serve the FGL application in real-world E-commerce scenarios, where the attained improvements indicate great potential business benefits. We publicly release FS-G, as submodules of FederatedScope, at //github.com/alibaba/FederatedScope to promote FGL's research and enable broad applications that would otherwise be infeasible due to the lack of a dedicated package.

Multi-agent influence diagrams (MAIDs) are a popular form of graphical model that, for certain classes of games, have been shown to offer key complexity and explainability advantages over traditional extensive form game (EFG) representations. In this paper, we extend previous work on MAIDs by introducing the concept of a MAID subgame, as well as subgame perfect and trembling hand perfect equilibrium refinements. We then prove several equivalence results between MAIDs and EFGs. Finally, we describe an open source implementation for reasoning about MAIDs and computing their equilibria.

Visual dialogue is a challenging task that needs to extract implicit information from both visual (image) and textual (dialogue history) contexts. Classical approaches pay more attention to the integration of the current question, vision knowledge and text knowledge, despising the heterogeneous semantic gaps between the cross-modal information. In the meantime, the concatenation operation has become de-facto standard to the cross-modal information fusion, which has a limited ability in information retrieval. In this paper, we propose a novel Knowledge-Bridge Graph Network (KBGN) model by using graph to bridge the cross-modal semantic relations between vision and text knowledge in fine granularity, as well as retrieving required knowledge via an adaptive information selection mode. Moreover, the reasoning clues for visual dialogue can be clearly drawn from intra-modal entities and inter-modal bridges. Experimental results on VisDial v1.0 and VisDial-Q datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms exiting models with state-of-the-art results.

The problem of Multiple Object Tracking (MOT) consists in following the trajectory of different objects in a sequence, usually a video. In recent years, with the rise of Deep Learning, the algorithms that provide a solution to this problem have benefited from the representational power of deep models. This paper provides a comprehensive survey on works that employ Deep Learning models to solve the task of MOT on single-camera videos. Four main steps in MOT algorithms are identified, and an in-depth review of how Deep Learning was employed in each one of these stages is presented. A complete experimental comparison of the presented works on the three MOTChallenge datasets is also provided, identifying a number of similarities among the top-performing methods and presenting some possible future research directions.
