The remarkable success of GPT models across various tasks, including toponymy recognition motivates us to assess the performance of the GPT-3 model in the geocoding address parsing task. To ensure that the evaluation more accurately mirrors performance in real-world scenarios with diverse user input qualities and resolve the pressing need for a 'gold standard' evaluation dataset for geocoding systems, we introduce a benchmark dataset of low-quality address descriptions synthesized based on human input patterns mining from actual input logs of a geocoding system in production. This dataset has 21 different input errors and variations; contains over 239,000 address records that are uniquely selected from streets across all U.S. 50 states and D.C.; and consists of three subsets to be used as training, validation, and testing sets. Building on this, we train and gauge the performance of the GPT-3 model in extracting address components, contrasting its performance with transformer-based and LSTM-based models. The evaluation results indicate that Bidirectional LSTM-CRF model has achieved the best performance over these transformer-based models and GPT-3 model. Transformer-based models demonstrate very comparable results compared to the Bidirectional LSTM-CRF model. The GPT-3 model, though trailing in performance, showcases potential in the address parsing task with few-shot examples, exhibiting room for improvement with additional fine-tuning. We open source the code and data of this presented benchmark so that researchers can utilize it for future model development or extend it to evaluate similar tasks, such as document geocoding.

Adversarial generative models, such as Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), are widely applied for generating various types of data, i.e., images, text, and audio. Accordingly, its promising performance has led to the GAN-based adversarial attack methods in the white-box and black-box attack scenarios. The importance of transferable black-box attacks lies in their ability to be effective across different models and settings, more closely aligning with real-world applications. However, it remains challenging to retain the performance in terms of transferable adversarial examples for such methods. Meanwhile, we observe that some enhanced gradient-based transferable adversarial attack algorithms require prolonged time for adversarial sample generation. Thus, in this work, we propose a novel algorithm named GE-AdvGAN to enhance the transferability of adversarial samples whilst improving the algorithm's efficiency. The main approach is via optimising the training process of the generator parameters. With the functional and characteristic similarity analysis, we introduce a novel gradient editing (GE) mechanism and verify its feasibility in generating transferable samples on various models. Moreover, by exploring the frequency domain information to determine the gradient editing direction, GE-AdvGAN can generate highly transferable adversarial samples while minimizing the execution time in comparison to the state-of-the-art transferable adversarial attack algorithms. The performance of GE-AdvGAN is comprehensively evaluated by large-scale experiments on different datasets, which results demonstrate the superiority of our algorithm. The code for our algorithm is available at: //github.com/LMBTough/GE-advGAN

In order to investigate the relationship between Shannon information measure of random variables, scholars such as Yeung utilized information diagrams to explore the structured representation of information measures, establishing correspondences with sets. However, this method has limitations when studying information measures of five or more random variables. In this paper, we consider employing algebraic methods to study the relationship of information measures of random variables. By introducing a semiring generated by random variables, we establish correspondences between sets and elements of the semiring. Utilizing the Grobner-Shirshov basis, we present the structure of the semiring and its standard form. Furthermore, we delve into the structure of the semiring generated under Markov chain conditions (referred to as Markov semiring), obtaining its standard form.

In the conventional change detection (CD) pipeline, two manually registered and labeled remote sensing datasets serve as the input of the model for training and prediction. However, in realistic scenarios, data from different periods or sensors could fail to be aligned as a result of various coordinate systems. Geometric distortion caused by coordinate shifting remains a thorny issue for CD algorithms. In this paper, we propose a reusable self-supervised framework for bitemporal geometric distortion in CD tasks. The whole framework is composed of Pretext Representation Pre-training, Bitemporal Image Alignment, and Down-stream Decoder Fine-Tuning. With only single-stage pre-training, the key components of the framework can be reused for assistance in the bitemporal image alignment, while simultaneously enhancing the performance of the CD decoder. Experimental results in 2 large-scale realistic scenarios demonstrate that our proposed method can alleviate the bitemporal geometric distortion in CD tasks.

This paper aims to develop a semi-formal design space for Human-AI interactions, by building a set of interaction primitives which specify the communication between users and AI systems during their interaction. We show how these primitives can be combined into a set of interaction patterns which can provide an abstract specification for exchanging messages between humans and AI/ML models to carry out purposeful interactions. The motivation behind this is twofold: firstly, to provide a compact generalisation of existing practices, that highlights the similarities and differences between systems in terms of their interaction behaviours; and secondly, to support the creation of new systems, in particular by opening the space of possibilities for interactions with models. We present a short literature review on frameworks, guidelines and taxonomies related to the design and implementation of HAI interactions, including human-in-the-loop, explainable AI, as well as hybrid intelligence and collaborative learning approaches. From the literature review, we define a vocabulary for describing information exchanges in terms of providing and requesting particular model-specific data types. Based on this vocabulary, a message passing model for interactions between humans and models is presented, which we demonstrate can account for existing systems and approaches. Finally, we build this into design patterns as mid-level constructs that capture common interactional structures. We discuss how this approach can be used towards a design space for Human-AI interactions that creates new possibilities for designs as well as keeping track of implementation issues and concerns.

We develop the generalized method of moments (GMM) estimation for the parameters of the finitely mixed multi-mixed fractional Ornstein--Uhlenbeck (mmfOU) processes, and analyze the consistency and asymptotic normality of this estimator. We also include some simulations and provide numerical observations considering different statistical errors.

The zero-shot text-to-speech (TTS) method, based on speaker embeddings extracted from reference speech using self-supervised learning (SSL) speech representations, can reproduce speaker characteristics very accurately. However, this approach suffers from degradation in speech synthesis quality when the reference speech contains noise. In this paper, we propose a noise-robust zero-shot TTS method. We incorporated adapters into the SSL model, which we fine-tuned with the TTS model using noisy reference speech. In addition, to further improve performance, we adopted a speech enhancement (SE) front-end. With these improvements, our proposed SSL-based zero-shot TTS achieved high-quality speech synthesis with noisy reference speech. Through the objective and subjective evaluations, we confirmed that the proposed method is highly robust to noise in reference speech, and effectively works in combination with SE.

Recent advances in generative diffusion models have enabled the previously unfeasible capability of generating 3D assets from a single input image or a text prompt. In this work, we aim to enhance the quality and functionality of these models for the task of creating controllable, photorealistic human avatars. We achieve this by integrating a 3D morphable model into the state-of-the-art multiview-consistent diffusion approach. We demonstrate that accurate conditioning of a generative pipeline on the articulated 3D model enhances the baseline model performance on the task of novel view synthesis from a single image. More importantly, this integration facilitates a seamless and accurate incorporation of facial expression and body pose control into the generation process. To the best of our knowledge, our proposed framework is the first diffusion model to enable the creation of fully 3D-consistent, animatable, and photorealistic human avatars from a single image of an unseen subject; extensive quantitative and qualitative evaluations demonstrate the advantages of our approach over existing state-of-the-art avatar creation models on both novel view and novel expression synthesis tasks.

Dynamic crack branching in unsaturated porous media holds significant relevance in various fields, including geotechnical engineering, geosciences, and petroleum engineering. This article presents a numerical investigation into dynamic crack branching in unsaturated porous media using a recently developed coupled micro-periporomechanics paradigm. This paradigm extends the periporomechanics model by incorporating the micro-rotation of the solid skeleton. Within this framework, each material point is equipped with three degrees of freedom: displacement, micro-rotation, and fluid pressure. Consistent with the Cosserat continuum theory, a length scale associated with the micro-rotation of material points is inherently integrated into the model. This study encompasses several key aspects: (1) Validation of the coupled micro-periporomechanics paradigm for effectively modeling crack branching in deformable porous media, (2) Examination of the transition from a single branch to multiple branches in porous media under drained conditions, (3) Simulation of single crack branching in unsaturated porous media under dynamic loading conditions, and (4) Investigation of multiple crack branching in unsaturated porous media under dynamic loading conditions. The numerical results obtained in this study are systematically analyzed to elucidate the factors that influence dynamic crack branching in porous media subjected to dynamic loading. Furthermore, the comprehensive numerical findings underscore the efficacy and robustness of the coupled micro-periporomechanics paradigm in accurately modeling dynamic crack branching in variably saturated porous media.

The purpose of remote sensing image change detection (RSCD) is to detect differences between bi-temporal images taken at the same place. Deep learning has been extensively used to RSCD tasks, yielding significant results in terms of result recognition. However, due to the shooting angle of the satellite, the impacts of thin clouds, and certain lighting conditions, the problem of fuzzy edges in the change region in some remote sensing photographs cannot be properly handled using current RSCD algorithms. To solve this issue, we proposed a Body Decouple Multi-Scale by fearure Aggregation change detection (BD-MSA), a novel model that collects both global and local feature map information in the channel and space dimensions of the feature map during the training and prediction phases. This approach allows us to successfully extract the change region's boundary information while also divorcing the change region's main body from its boundary. Numerous studies have shown that the assessment metrics and evaluation effects of the model described in this paper on the publicly available datasets DSIFN-CD and S2Looking are the best when compared to other models.

In this work, we introduce Regularity Structures B-series which are used for describing solutions of singular stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs). We define composition and substitutions of these B-series and as in the context of B-series for ordinary differential equations, these operations can be rewritten via products and Hopf algebras which have been used for building up renormalised models. These models provide a suitable topology for solving singular SPDEs. This new construction sheds a new light on these products and open interesting perspectives for the study of singular SPDEs in connection with B-series.
