Model Leeching is a novel extraction attack targeting Large Language Models (LLMs), capable of distilling task-specific knowledge from a target LLM into a reduced parameter model. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our attack by extracting task capability from ChatGPT-3.5-Turbo, achieving 73% Exact Match (EM) similarity, and SQuAD EM and F1 accuracy scores of 75% and 87%, respectively for only $50 in API cost. We further demonstrate the feasibility of adversarial attack transferability from an extracted model extracted via Model Leeching to perform ML attack staging against a target LLM, resulting in an 11% increase to attack success rate when applied to ChatGPT-3.5-Turbo.

Dynamically Interactive Visualization (DIVI) is a novel approach for orchestrating interactions within and across static visualizations. DIVI deconstructs Scalable Vector Graphics charts at runtime to infer content and coordinate user input, decoupling interaction from specification logic. This decoupling allows interactions to extend and compose freely across different tools, chart types, and analysis goals. DIVI exploits positional relations of marks to detect chart components such as axes and legends, reconstruct scales and view encodings, and infer data fields. DIVI then enumerates candidate transformations across inferred data to perform linking between views. To support dynamic interaction without prior specification, we introduce a taxonomy that formalizes the space of standard interactions by chart element, interaction type, and input event. We demonstrate DIVI's usefulness for rapid data exploration and analysis through a usability study with 13 participants and a diverse gallery of dynamically interactive visualizations, including single chart, multi-view, and cross-tool configurations.

Human Intelligence (HI) excels at combining basic skills to solve complex tasks. This capability is vital for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and should be embedded in comprehensive AI Agents, enabling them to harness expert models for complex task-solving towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Large Language Models (LLMs) show promising learning and reasoning abilities, and can effectively use external models, tools, plugins, or APIs to tackle complex problems. In this work, we introduce OpenAGI, an open-source AGI research and development platform designed for solving multi-step, real-world tasks. Specifically, OpenAGI uses a dual strategy, integrating standard benchmark tasks for benchmarking and evaluation, and open-ended tasks including more expandable models, tools, plugins, or APIs for creative problem-solving. Tasks are presented as natural language queries to the LLM, which then selects and executes appropriate models. We also propose a Reinforcement Learning from Task Feedback (RLTF) mechanism that uses task results to improve the LLM's task-solving ability, which creates a self-improving AI feedback loop. While we acknowledge that AGI is a broad and multifaceted research challenge with no singularly defined solution path, the integration of LLMs with domain-specific expert models, inspired by mirroring the blend of general and specialized intelligence in humans, offers a promising approach towards AGI. Many approaches for addressing Global Optimization problems typically rely on relaxations of nonlinear constraints over specific mathematical primitives. This is restricting in applications with constraints that are black-box, implicit or consist of more general primitives. Trying to address such limitations, Bertsimas and Ozturk (2023) proposed OCTHaGOn as a way of solving black-box global optimization problems by approximating the nonlinear constraints using hyperplane-based Decision-Trees and then using those trees to construct a unified mixed integer optimization (MIO) approximation of the original problem. We provide extensions to this approach, by (i) approximating the original problem using other MIO-representable ML models besides Decision Trees, such as Gradient Boosted Trees, Multi Layer Perceptrons and Suport Vector Machines, (ii) proposing adaptive sampling procedures for more accurate machine learning-based constraint approximations, (iii) utilizing robust optimization to account for the uncertainty of the sample-dependent training of the ML models, and (iv) leveraging a family of relaxations to address the infeasibilities of the final MIO approximation. We then test the enhanced framework in 81 Global Optimization instances. We show improvements in solution feasibility and optimality in the majority of instances. We also compare against BARON, showing improved optimality gaps or solution times in 11 instances.

Computed Tomography (CT) with its remarkable capability for three-dimensional imaging from multiple projections, enjoys a broad range of applications in clinical diagnosis, scientific observation, and industrial detection. Neural Adaptive Tomography (NeAT) is a recently proposed 3D rendering method based on neural radiance field for CT, and it demonstrates superior performance compared to traditional methods. However, it still faces challenges when dealing with the substantial perturbations and pose shifts encountered in CT scanning processes. Here, we propose a neural rendering method for CT reconstruction, named Iterative Neural Adaptive Tomography (INeAT), which incorporates iterative posture optimization to effectively counteract the influence of posture perturbations in data, particularly in cases involving significant posture variations. Through the implementation of a posture feedback optimization strategy, INeAT iteratively refines the posture corresponding to the input images based on the reconstructed 3D volume. We demonstrate that INeAT achieves artifact-suppressed and resolution-enhanced reconstruction in scenarios with significant pose disturbances. Furthermore, we show that our INeAT maintains comparable reconstruction performance to stable-state acquisitions even using data from unstable-state acquisitions, which significantly reduces the time required for CT scanning and relaxes the stringent requirements on imaging hardware systems, underscoring its immense potential for applications in short-time and low-cost CT technology.

Quality Assurance (QA) is pivotal in product development. Despite the advent of automated methods, software testing, especially for REST APIs, often involves repetitive tasks. It's notable that more resources are allocated to script tests than in detecting and addressing the actual bugs. Conventional testing methods also struggle to adapt seamlessly to software updates. However, with strides in data science, the concept of a self-reliant testing framework emerges. This framework aims for minimal user intervention and is designed to autonomously execute the entire REST API testing procedure. Our research is centered around realizing this groundbreaking framework.

We present CoDEx, a set of knowledge graph completion datasets extracted from Wikidata and Wikipedia that improve upon existing knowledge graph completion benchmarks in scope and level of difficulty. In terms of scope, CoDEx comprises three knowledge graphs varying in size and structure, multilingual descriptions of entities and relations, and tens of thousands of hard negative triples that are plausible but verified to be false. To characterize CoDEx, we contribute thorough empirical analyses and benchmarking experiments. First, we analyze each CoDEx dataset in terms of logical relation patterns. Next, we report baseline link prediction and triple classification results on CoDEx for five extensively tuned embedding models. Finally, we differentiate CoDEx from the popular FB15K-237 knowledge graph completion dataset by showing that CoDEx covers more diverse and interpretable content, and is a more difficult link prediction benchmark. The design of deep graph models still remains to be investigated and the crucial part is how to explore and exploit the knowledge from different hops of neighbors in an efficient way. In this paper, we propose a novel RNN-like deep graph neural network architecture by incorporating AdaBoost into the computation of network; and the proposed graph convolutional network called AdaGCN~(AdaBoosting Graph Convolutional Network) has the ability to efficiently extract knowledge from high-order neighbors and integrate knowledge from different hops of neighbors into the network in an AdaBoost way. We also present the architectural difference between AdaGCN and existing graph convolutional methods to show the benefits of our proposal. Finally, extensive experiments demonstrate the state-of-the-art prediction performance and the computational advantage of our approach AdaGCN.

Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) can produce images of surprising complexity and realism, but are generally modeled to sample from a single latent source ignoring the explicit spatial interaction between multiple entities that could be present in a scene. Capturing such complex interactions between different objects in the world, including their relative scaling, spatial layout, occlusion, or viewpoint transformation is a challenging problem. In this work, we propose to model object composition in a GAN framework as a self-consistent composition-decomposition network. Our model is conditioned on the object images from their marginal distributions to generate a realistic image from their joint distribution by explicitly learning the possible interactions. We evaluate our model through qualitative experiments and user evaluations in both the scenarios when either paired or unpaired examples for the individual object images and the joint scenes are given during training. Our results reveal that the learned model captures potential interactions between the two object domains given as input to output new instances of composed scene at test time in a reasonable fashion.

We study the problem of learning to reason in large scale knowledge graphs (KGs). More specifically, we describe a novel reinforcement learning framework for learning multi-hop relational paths: we use a policy-based agent with continuous states based on knowledge graph embeddings, which reasons in a KG vector space by sampling the most promising relation to extend its path. In contrast to prior work, our approach includes a reward function that takes the accuracy, diversity, and efficiency into consideration. Experimentally, we show that our proposed method outperforms a path-ranking based algorithm and knowledge graph embedding methods on Freebase and Never-Ending Language Learning datasets.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have gained significant traction in the field of machine learning, particularly due to their high accuracy in visual recognition. Recent works have pushed the performance of GPU implementations of CNNs to significantly improve their classification and training times. With these improvements, many frameworks have become available for implementing CNNs on both CPUs and GPUs, with no support for FPGA implementations. In this work we present a modified version of the popular CNN framework Caffe, with FPGA support. This allows for classification using CNN models and specialized FPGA implementations with the flexibility of reprogramming the device when necessary, seamless memory transactions between host and device, simple-to-use test benches, and the ability to create pipelined layer implementations. To validate the framework, we use the Xilinx SDAccel environment to implement an FPGA-based Winograd convolution engine and show that the FPGA layer can be used alongside other layers running on a host processor to run several popular CNNs (AlexNet, GoogleNet, VGG A, Overfeat). The results show that our framework achieves 50 GFLOPS across 3x3 convolutions in the benchmarks. This is achieved within a practical framework, which will aid in future development of FPGA-based CNNs.
