We propose a Pose-Free Large Reconstruction Model (PF-LRM) for reconstructing a 3D object from a few unposed images even with little visual overlap, while simultaneously estimating the relative camera poses in ~1.3 seconds on a single A100 GPU. PF-LRM is a highly scalable method utilizing the self-attention blocks to exchange information between 3D object tokens and 2D image tokens; we predict a coarse point cloud for each view, and then use a differentiable Perspective-n-Point (PnP) solver to obtain camera poses. When trained on a huge amount of multi-view posed data of ~1M objects, PF-LRM shows strong cross-dataset generalization ability, and outperforms baseline methods by a large margin in terms of pose prediction accuracy and 3D reconstruction quality on various unseen evaluation datasets. We also demonstrate our model's applicability in downstream text/image-to-3D task with fast feed-forward inference. Our project website is at: //totoro97.github.io/pf-lrm .

The primary aim of Knowledge Graph embeddings (KGE) is to learn low-dimensional representations of entities and relations for predicting missing facts. While rotation-based methods like RotatE and QuatE perform well in KGE, they face two challenges: limited model flexibility requiring proportional increases in relation size with entity dimension, and difficulties in generalizing the model for higher-dimensional rotations. To address these issues, we introduce OrthogonalE, a novel KGE model employing matrices for entities and block-diagonal orthogonal matrices with Riemannian optimization for relations. This approach enhances the generality and flexibility of KGE models. The experimental results indicate that our new KGE model, OrthogonalE, is both general and flexible, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art KGE models while substantially reducing the number of relation parameters.

Despite advances in 3D generation, the direct creation of 3D objects within an existing 3D scene represented as NeRF remains underexplored. This process requires not only high-quality 3D object generation but also seamless composition of the generated 3D content into the existing NeRF. To this end, we propose a new method, GO-NeRF, capable of utilizing scene context for high-quality and harmonious 3D object generation within an existing NeRF. Our method employs a compositional rendering formulation that allows the generated 3D objects to be seamlessly composited into the scene utilizing learned 3D-aware opacity maps without introducing unintended scene modification. Moreover, we also develop tailored optimization objectives and training strategies to enhance the model's ability to exploit scene context and mitigate artifacts, such as floaters, originating from 3D object generation within a scene. Extensive experiments on both feed-forward and $360^o$ scenes show the superior performance of our proposed GO-NeRF in generating objects harmoniously composited with surrounding scenes and synthesizing high-quality novel view images. A popular approach for constructing bird's-eye-view (BEV) representation in 3D detection is to lift 2D image features onto the viewing frustum space based on explicitly predicted depth distribution. However, depth distribution can only characterize the 3D geometry of visible object surfaces but fails to capture their internal space and overall geometric structure, leading to sparse and unsatisfactory 3D representations. To mitigate this issue, we present BEV-IO, a new 3D detection paradigm to enhance BEV representation with instance occupancy information. At the core of our method is the newly-designed instance occupancy prediction (IOP) module, which aims to infer point-level occupancy status for each instance in the frustum space. To ensure training efficiency while maintaining representational flexibility, it is trained using the combination of both explicit and implicit supervision. With the predicted occupancy, we further design a geometry-aware feature propagation mechanism (GFP), which performs self-attention based on occupancy distribution along each ray in frustum and is able to enforce instance-level feature consistency. By integrating the IOP module with GFP mechanism, our BEV-IO detector is able to render highly informative 3D scene structures with more comprehensive BEV representations. Experimental results demonstrate that BEV-IO can outperform state-of-the-art methods while only adding a negligible increase in parameters (0.2%) and computational overhead (0.24%in GFLOPs).

Medical visual question answering (VQA) is a challenging multimodal task, where Vision-Language Pre-training (VLP) models can effectively improve the generalization performance. However, most methods in the medical field treat VQA as an answer classification task which is difficult to transfer to practical application scenarios. Additionally, due to the privacy of medical images and the expensive annotation process, large-scale medical image-text pairs datasets for pretraining are severely lacking. In this paper, we propose a large-scale MultI-task Self-Supervised learning based framework (MISS) for medical VQA tasks. Unlike existing methods, we treat medical VQA as a generative task. We unify the text encoder and multimodal encoder and align image-text features through multi-task learning. Furthermore, we propose a Transfer-and-Caption method that extends the feature space of single-modal image datasets using large language models (LLMs), enabling those traditional medical vision field task data to be applied to VLP. Experiments show that our method achieves excellent results with fewer multimodal datasets and demonstrates the advantages of generative VQA models. The code and model weights will be released upon the paper's acceptance.

Fusion of a panchromatic (PAN) image and corresponding multispectral (MS) image is also known as pansharpening, which aims to combine abundant spatial details of PAN and spectral information of MS. Due to the absence of high-resolution MS images, available deep-learning-based methods usually follow the paradigm of training at reduced resolution and testing at both reduced and full resolution. When taking original MS and PAN images as inputs, they always obtain sub-optimal results due to the scale variation. In this paper, we propose to explore the self-supervised representation of pansharpening by designing a cross-predictive diffusion model, named CrossDiff. It has two-stage training. In the first stage, we introduce a cross-predictive pretext task to pre-train the UNet structure based on conditional DDPM, while in the second stage, the encoders of the UNets are frozen to directly extract spatial and spectral features from PAN and MS, and only the fusion head is trained to adapt for pansharpening task. Extensive experiments show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed model compared with state-of-the-art supervised and unsupervised methods. Besides, the cross-sensor experiments also verify the generalization ability of proposed self-supervised representation learners for other satellite's datasets. We will release our code for reproducibility.

Action recognition in videos poses a challenge due to its high computational cost, especially for Joint Space-Time video transformers (Joint VT). Despite their effectiveness, the excessive number of tokens in such architectures significantly limits their efficiency. In this paper, we propose HaltingVT, an efficient video transformer adaptively removing redundant video patch tokens, which is primarily composed of a Joint VT and a Glimpser module. Specifically, HaltingVT applies data-adaptive token reduction at each layer, resulting in a significant reduction in the overall computational cost. Besides, the Glimpser module quickly removes redundant tokens in shallow transformer layers, which may even be misleading for video recognition tasks based on our observations. To further encourage HaltingVT to focus on the key motion-related information in videos, we design an effective Motion Loss during training. HaltingVT acquires video analysis capabilities and token halting compression strategies simultaneously in a unified training process, without requiring additional training procedures or sub-networks. On the Mini-Kinetics dataset, we achieved 75.0% top-1 ACC with 24.2 GFLOPs, as well as 67.2% top-1 ACC with an extremely low 9.9 GFLOPs. The code is available at //github.com/dun-research/HaltingVT.

Low-cost autonomous Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs) have the potential to help humans by simplifying and speeding up complex tasks that require their interaction with the environment, such as construction, package delivery, and search and rescue. These systems, composed of single or multiple vehicles, can be endowed with passive connection mechanisms such as rigid links or cables to perform transportation and manipulation tasks. However, they are inherently complex since they are often underactuated and evolve in nonlinear manifold configuration spaces. In addition, the complexity of systems with cable-suspended load is further increased by the hybrid dynamics depending on the cables' varying tension conditions. This paper presents the first aerial transportation and manipulation simulator incorporating different payloads and passive connection mechanisms with full system dynamics, planning, and control algorithms. Furthermore, it includes a novel general model accounting for the transient hybrid dynamics for aerial systems with cable-suspended load to closely mimic real-world systems. The availability of a flexible and intuitive interface further contributes to its usability and versatility. Comparisons between simulations and real-world experiments with different vehicles' configurations show the fidelity of the simulator results with respect to real-world settings. The experiments also show the simulator's benefit for the rapid prototyping and transitioning of aerial transportation and manipulation systems to real-world deployment.

Recently, a new paradigm, meta learning, has been widely applied to Deep Learning Recommendation Models (DLRM) and significantly improves statistical performance, especially in cold-start scenarios. However, the existing systems are not tailored for meta learning based DLRM models and have critical problems regarding efficiency in distributed training in the GPU cluster. It is because the conventional deep learning pipeline is not optimized for two task-specific datasets and two update loops in meta learning. This paper provides a high-performance framework for large-scale training for Optimization-based Meta DLRM models over the \textbf{G}PU cluster, namely \textbf{G}-Meta. Firstly, G-Meta utilizes both data parallelism and model parallelism with careful orchestration regarding computation and communication efficiency, to enable high-speed distributed training. Secondly, it proposes a Meta-IO pipeline for efficient data ingestion to alleviate the I/O bottleneck. Various experimental results show that G-Meta achieves notable training speed without loss of statistical performance. Since early 2022, G-Meta has been deployed in Alipay's core advertising and recommender system, shrinking the continuous delivery of models by four times. It also obtains 6.48\% improvement in Conversion Rate (CVR) and 1.06\% increase in CPM (Cost Per Mille) in Alipay's homepage display advertising, with the benefit of larger training samples and tasks.

Despite the potential of diffusion models in speech enhancement, their deployment in Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) has been restricted. In this paper, we propose DI-AEC, pioneering a diffusion-based stochastic regeneration approach dedicated to AEC. Further, we propose FADI-AEC, fast score-based diffusion AEC framework to save computational demands, making it favorable for edge devices. It stands out by running the score model once per frame, achieving a significant surge in processing efficiency. Apart from that, we introduce a novel noise generation technique where far-end signals are utilized, incorporating both far-end and near-end signals to refine the score model's accuracy. We test our proposed method on the ICASSP2023 Microsoft deep echo cancellation challenge evaluation dataset, where our method outperforms some of the end-to-end methods and other diffusion based echo cancellation methods.

In recent years, Face Image Quality Assessment (FIQA) has become an indispensable part of the face recognition system to guarantee the stability and reliability of recognition performance in an unconstrained scenario. For this purpose, the FIQA method should consider both the intrinsic property and the recognizability of the face image. Most previous works aim to estimate the sample-wise embedding uncertainty or pair-wise similarity as the quality score, which only considers the information from partial intra-class. However, these methods ignore the valuable information from the inter-class, which is for estimating to the recognizability of face image. In this work, we argue that a high-quality face image should be similar to its intra-class samples and dissimilar to its inter-class samples. Thus, we propose a novel unsupervised FIQA method that incorporates Similarity Distribution Distance for Face Image Quality Assessment (SDD-FIQA). Our method generates quality pseudo-labels by calculating the Wasserstein Distance (WD) between the intra-class similarity distributions and inter-class similarity distributions. With these quality pseudo-labels, we are capable of training a regression network for quality prediction. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed SDD-FIQA surpasses the state-of-the-arts by an impressive margin. Meanwhile, our method shows good generalization across different recognition systems.
