This work is unique in the use of discrete wavelets that were built from or derived from Chebyshev polynomials of the second and third kind, filter the Discrete Second Chebyshev Wavelets Transform (DSCWT), and derive two effective filters. The Filter Discrete Third Chebyshev Wavelets Transform (FDTCWT) is used in the process of analyzing color images and removing noise and impurities that accompany the image, as well as because of the large amount of data that makes up the image as it is taken. These data are massive, making it difficult to deal with each other during transmission. However to address this issue, the image compression technique is used, with the image not losing information due to the readings that were obtained, and the results were satisfactory. Mean Square Error (MSE), Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR), Bit Per Pixel (BPP), and Compression Ratio (CR) Coronavirus is the initial treatment, while the processing stage is done with network training for Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with Discrete Second Chebeshev Wavelets Convolutional Neural Network (DSCWCNN) and Discrete Third Chebeshev Wavelets Convolutional Neural Network (DTCWCNN) to create an efficient algorithm for face recognition, and the best results were achieved in accuracy and in the least amount of time. Two samples of color images that were made or implemented were used. The proposed theory was obtained with fast and good results; the results are evident shown in the tables below.

Eddy detection is a critical task for ocean scientists to understand and analyze ocean circulation. In this paper, we introduce a hybrid eddy detection approach that combines sea surface height (SSH) and velocity fields with geometric criteria defining eddy behavior. Our approach searches for SSH minima and maxima, which oceanographers expect to find at the center of eddies. Geometric criteria are used to verify expected velocity field properties, such as net rotation and symmetry, by tracing velocity components along a circular path surrounding each eddy center. Progressive searches outward and into deeper layers yield each eddy's 3D region of influence. Isolation of each eddy structure from the dataset, using it's cylindrical footprint, facilitates visualization of internal eddy structures using horizontal velocity, vertical velocity, temperature and salinity. A quantitative comparison of Okubo-Weiss vorticity (OW) thresholding, the standard winding angle, and this new SSH-velocity hybrid methods of eddy detection as applied to the Red Sea dataset suggests that detection results are highly dependent on the choices of method, thresholds, and criteria. Our new SSH-velocity hybrid detection approach has the advantages of providing eddy structures with verified rotation properties, 3D visualization of the internal structure of physical properties, and rapid efficient estimations of eddy footprints without calculating streamlines. Our approach combines visualization of internal structure and tracking overall movement to support the study of the transport mechanisms key to understanding the interaction of nutrient distribution and ocean circulation. Our method is applied to three different datasets to showcase the generality of its application.

We consider a linear model which can have a large number of explanatory variables, the errors with an asymmetric distribution or some values of the explained variable are missing at random. In order to take in account these several situations, we consider the non parametric empirical likelihood (EL) estimation method. Because a constraint in EL contains an indicator function then a smoothed function instead of the indicator will be considered. Two smoothed expectile maximum EL methods are proposed, one of which will automatically select the explanatory variables. For each of the methods we obtain the convergence rate of the estimators and their asymptotic normality. The smoothed expectile empirical log-likelihood ratio process follow asymptotically a chi-square distribution and moreover the adaptive LASSO smoothed expectile maximum EL estimator satisfies the sparsity property which guarantees the automatic selection of zero model coefficients. In order to implement these methods, we propose four algorithms.

Deep learning methods have been achieved brilliant results in face recognition. One of the important tasks to improve the performance is to collect and label images as many as possible. However, labeling identities and checking qualities of large image data are difficult task and mistakes cannot be avoided in processing large data. Previous works have been trying to deal with the problem only in training domain, however it can cause much serious problem if the mistakes are in gallery data of face identification. We proposed gallery data sampling methods which are robust to outliers including wrong labeled, low quality, and less-informative images and reduce searching time. The proposed sampling-by-pruning and sampling-by-generating methods significantly improved face identification performance on our 5.4M web image dataset of celebrities. The proposed method achieved 0.0975 in terms of FNIR at FPIR=0.01, while conventional method showed 0.3891. The average number of feature vectors for each individual gallery was reduced to 17.1 from 115.9 and it can provide much faster search. We also made experiments on public datasets and our method achieved 0.1314 and 0.0668 FNIRs at FPIR=0.01 on the CASIA-WebFace and MS1MV2, while the convectional method did 0.5446, and 0.1327, respectively.

With the growing popularity of neural rendering, there has been an increasing number of neural implicit multi-view reconstruction methods. While many models have been enhanced in terms of positional encoding, sampling, rendering, and other aspects to improve the reconstruction quality, current methods do not fully leverage the information among neighboring pixels during the reconstruction process. To address this issue, we propose an enhanced model called BundleRecon. In the existing approaches, sampling is performed by a single ray that corresponds to a single pixel. In contrast, our model samples a patch of pixels using a bundle of rays, which incorporates information from neighboring pixels. Furthermore, we design bundle-based constraints to further improve the reconstruction quality. Experimental results demonstrate that BundleRecon is compatible with the existing neural implicit multi-view reconstruction methods and can improve their reconstruction quality.

In the identification (ID) scheme proposed by Ahlswede and Dueck, the receiver only checks whether a message of special interest to him has been sent or not. In contrast to Shannon transmission codes, the size of ID codes for a Discrete Memoryless Channel (DMC) grows doubly exponentially fast with the blocklength, if randomized encoding is used. This groundbreaking result makes the ID paradigm more efficient than the classical Shannon transmission in terms of necessary energy and hardware components. Further gains can be achieved by taking advantage of additional resources such as feedback. We study the problem of joint ID and channel state estimation over a DMC with independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) state sequences. The sender simultaneously sends an ID message over the DMC with a random state and estimates the channel state via a strictly causal channel output. The random channel state is available to neither the sender nor the receiver. For the proposed system model, we establish a lower bound on the ID capacity-distortion function.

As the popularity of mobile photography continues to grow, considerable effort is being invested in the reconstruction of degraded images. Due to the spatial variation in optical aberrations, which cannot be avoided during the lens design process, recent commercial cameras have shifted some of these correction tasks from optical design to postprocessing systems. However, without engaging with the optical parameters, these systems only achieve limited correction for aberrations.In this work, we propose a practical method for recovering the degradation caused by optical aberrations. Specifically, we establish an imaging simulation system based on our proposed optical point spread function model. Given the optical parameters of the camera, it generates the imaging results of these specific devices. To perform the restoration, we design a spatial-adaptive network model on synthetic data pairs generated by the imaging simulation system, eliminating the overhead of capturing training data by a large amount of shooting and registration. Moreover, we comprehensively evaluate the proposed method in simulations and experimentally with a customized digital-single-lens-reflex (DSLR) camera lens and HUAWEI HONOR 20, respectively. The experiments demonstrate that our solution successfully removes spatially variant blur and color dispersion. When compared with the state-of-the-art deblur methods, the proposed approach achieves better results with a lower computational overhead. Following unprecedented success on the natural language tasks, Transformers have been successfully applied to several computer vision problems, achieving state-of-the-art results and prompting researchers to reconsider the supremacy of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) as {de facto} operators. Capitalizing on these advances in computer vision, the medical imaging field has also witnessed growing interest for Transformers that can capture global context compared to CNNs with local receptive fields. Inspired from this transition, in this survey, we attempt to provide a comprehensive review of the applications of Transformers in medical imaging covering various aspects, ranging from recently proposed architectural designs to unsolved issues. Specifically, we survey the use of Transformers in medical image segmentation, detection, classification, reconstruction, synthesis, registration, clinical report generation, and other tasks. In particular, for each of these applications, we develop taxonomy, identify application-specific challenges as well as provide insights to solve them, and highlight recent trends. Further, we provide a critical discussion of the field's current state as a whole, including the identification of key challenges, open problems, and outlining promising future directions. We hope this survey will ignite further interest in the community and provide researchers with an up-to-date reference regarding applications of Transformer models in medical imaging. In this paper, we propose a novel Feature Decomposition and Reconstruction Learning (FDRL) method for effective facial expression recognition. We view the expression information as the combination of the shared information (expression similarities) across different expressions and the unique information (expression-specific variations) for each expression. More specifically, FDRL mainly consists of two crucial networks: a Feature Decomposition Network (FDN) and a Feature Reconstruction Network (FRN). In particular, FDN first decomposes the basic features extracted from a backbone network into a set of facial action-aware latent features to model expression similarities. Then, FRN captures the intra-feature and inter-feature relationships for latent features to characterize expression-specific variations, and reconstructs the expression feature. To this end, two modules including an intra-feature relation modeling module and an inter-feature relation modeling module are developed in FRN. Experimental results on both the in-the-lab databases (including CK+, MMI, and Oulu-CASIA) and the in-the-wild databases (including RAF-DB and SFEW) show that the proposed FDRL method consistently achieves higher recognition accuracy than several state-of-the-art methods. This clearly highlights the benefit of feature decomposition and reconstruction for classifying expressions.

Semantic reconstruction of indoor scenes refers to both scene understanding and object reconstruction. Existing works either address one part of this problem or focus on independent objects. In this paper, we bridge the gap between understanding and reconstruction, and propose an end-to-end solution to jointly reconstruct room layout, object bounding boxes and meshes from a single image. Instead of separately resolving scene understanding and object reconstruction, our method builds upon a holistic scene context and proposes a coarse-to-fine hierarchy with three components: 1. room layout with camera pose; 2. 3D object bounding boxes; 3. object meshes. We argue that understanding the context of each component can assist the task of parsing the others, which enables joint understanding and reconstruction. The experiments on the SUN RGB-D and Pix3D datasets demonstrate that our method consistently outperforms existing methods in indoor layout estimation, 3D object detection and mesh reconstruction.

In this paper, we present an accurate and scalable approach to the face clustering task. We aim at grouping a set of faces by their potential identities. We formulate this task as a link prediction problem: a link exists between two faces if they are of the same identity. The key idea is that we find the local context in the feature space around an instance (face) contains rich information about the linkage relationship between this instance and its neighbors. By constructing sub-graphs around each instance as input data, which depict the local context, we utilize the graph convolution network (GCN) to perform reasoning and infer the likelihood of linkage between pairs in the sub-graphs. Experiments show that our method is more robust to the complex distribution of faces than conventional methods, yielding favorably comparable results to state-of-the-art methods on standard face clustering benchmarks, and is scalable to large datasets. Furthermore, we show that the proposed method does not need the number of clusters as prior, is aware of noises and outliers, and can be extended to a multi-view version for more accurate clustering accuracy.
